A phenomenon which arises from the presence of certain gases in the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) and chlorofluorocarbons (CFC). These gases absorb the  Sun’s radiation reflected from the Earth, thereby increasing the temperature of the atmosphere.
